Midland cruises past Elton

The Midland Rebels have been known to knock down the long ball on occasion.
Unfortunately for Elton, Friday’s nightcap with the Rebels was one of those occasions.
Midland’s Jake Gautreaux and Devin Gautreaux combined for 13 3-pointers and the Rebels cruised to an easy 76-50 victory in their first contest of the MHS Holiday Spectacular.
Jake Gautreaux poured in five shots from beyond the arch in the first half and added three more in the final two frames to finish with a game-high 33 points.
Devin Gautreaux added a trio of 3-pointers in the first half and one in the second to finish with 16 points.
Darren Arceneaux added eight of his 10 points in the first quarter to help Midland jump out to a 24-6 lead.
The Rebels took a 40-20 advantage at the break and then went on an 18-8 run in the third to increase their cushion to 58-28.
Midland’s reserves took the court in the fourth quarter and Elton was able to outscore the Rebels, 22-18.
Nick Primeaux, Traven Guidry and Dagan Patin each pitched in four points in the victory and Taatum Ruben had two.
