Lady Wolves capture District 4-4A title

The state-ranked Lady Wolves of 4A kept their 4-4A district slate clean Tuesday with a 37-28 win at Eunice High.

The win places the 4-4A district champions undefated at 11-0, with their last game of the regular seaosn slated for Friday when they host intra-parish rival Crowley High.

Leading the Rayne charge Tuesday was Charlesha Dugas with 23 points, two rebounds and six steals.

Helping with the win were Whitly Larry (5 points, 5 blocks, 12 rebounds), Tori Carriere (5 points, 8 rebounds), and a bucket by Tristan Mouton and Tanner Wilson who also recorded 7 steals.

The Lady Wolves also recorded a 47-27 win last Wednesday over LaGrange. Rayne was led by Whitley Larry with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 7 rebounds.

Helping with the win were teammates Charlesha Dugas with 18 points and Cierra Harmon with five.

State pairings are scheduled to be released Monday, Feb. 17th, with the state bracket set for Wednesday, Feb. 19, with action to begin for the state crown.

 

Wolves

On the boys’ side of the coin, the Wolves also traveled to Lake Charles Friday where they met LaGrange and came up short, 49-39.

Trailing just 26-25, the Wolves kept things close until the last quarter when the Gators puller away for the 10-point win.

Leading Rayne scorers were Drakkar broussard and Charles Jones, each with 10 points, followed by Peyton Larry with seven nd Donracus Joseph with five.

The Wolves were also slated to take on Eunice High Tuesday evening, followed by a home contest Friday when they host Crowley High.
