Rayne High athletes named State All-Academic
By Lisa Soileaux
The LHSAA / Exxon Mobil All-Academic Award Program presented by ISC recognizes the academic excellence of senior student-athletes who have attained a 3.5 grade point average or higher by placing them on the Composite All-Academic Team or Class All-Academic Team.
At this time of the year, football and volleyball players who have qualified for this honor have been announced.
Rayne High football players honored were Matthew Doré (3.95 GPS), Christian Hodges (3.57 GPA) and Kameron Falcon, who was also named to the Composite Team with a 4.0 GPA
Volleyball players who were honored include Taylor Arceneaux, Haley Comeaux and Mary Peltier. All three were also named to the Composite Team with a 4.0 GPA, while Sidney Fontenot was honored with a 3.9545 GPA.
To earn Composite Team honors, a student-athlete’s six-semester GPA must be one of the 18 highest in all seven classifications. If there are any ties at the eighteenth position, all student-athletes are placed on the Composite Team. The composite team (all 4.0 students unless listed to break the tie) were honored at the state events.
The Class Team is composed of student-athletes with six-semester GPA of 3.5 and above. These students received a certificate by their school.
