Clarence Roberts
Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Roberts, 92, of Pineville and formerly of Crowley, will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley. Reverend James Cart will officiate. Interment will follow in Maxie Cemetery, Maxie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley.
Mr. Roberts passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:45 P.M. in the Veterans Affairs care facility in Pineville.
A native of Wesson, MS, Mr. Roberts had lived for many years in the Crowley area. He was a resident of the Veterans Affairs care facility in Pineville for fourteen years. Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Roberts was a salesman for various oilfield supply companies. He enjoyed fishing, and he was a loyal fan of Ole Miss football. He was a member of Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church prior to moving to Pineville, and he loved to share the Gospel and lead others to Jesus. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his daughter, Bobbie Brown of Crowley; sister, Amy Hester of Wesson, MS; grandchildren, Letie Veillon and husband, Duane of Lafayette, John David Brown and wife, Kathy of Newburgh, IN, and William Jackson Brown of Crowley; 7 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Roberts in death were his wife of over fifty years, Eula Corkin Roberts; parents, Perry and Winnie Miller Roberts; granddaughter, Shelia Beard; great-great-granddaughter, Ashtyn Barnes; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Serving as pallbearers are Duane Veillon, Paul Barnes, Billy Brown, and John David Brown. Named as honorary pallbearers are William Jackson Brown; and Mr. Roberts’ close friend at the V.A. home, Mr. White.
