Rayne High powerlifters attend state, place at regionals

The Rayne High Powerlifting Team traveled to Monroe High School for the 2014 State Powerlifting Meet on Friday and Saturday, March 21-22, as announced by Coach Benny Fontenot.

The following Rayne High powerlifters competed: Javon Cormier, Paul White, Mckayla Fontenot, Latavia Cormier, Megan Marcantel, Haley Nero, Kaitlyn Bergeron, Chelsea Arceneaux and Kylie Racca.

Javon Cormier and Makayla Fontenot both placed third in their weight class.

In the 2014 Division II (4A) West Regional Powerlifting Meet held on Thursday, Feb. 27, at Catholic High of Pointe Coupee, Rayne High was well represented.

Wolves placing were:

BOYS: Javon Cormier - 1st place 132 lb. class; Paul White - qualified for state meet; Tyrin Gordon - qualified for state meet.

GIRLS: Mckayla Fontenot - 1st place SHW class; Kylie Racca - 3rd place SHW class; Meagan Marcantel - qualified for state meet; Haley Nero - qualified for state meet; Kaitlyn Bergeron - qualified for state meet; Latavia Cormier - qualified for state meet; Chelsea Arceneaux - qualified for state meet.
