Rayne High tracksters headed to Regionals

RAYNE - Rayne High School hosted the 2014 District 4-4A Track Meet on Monday, April 21, at Wolf Stadium.
Teams joining Rayne High for the meet were Crowley, LaGrange, Washington-Marion, Beau Chene, Opelousas and Eunice.
In the girls’ division, Eunice High took top team honors with 122 points. The Lady Wolves finished in sixth place with 59 points.
Leading points for the Lady Wolves was Tristan Mouton with 28 points in four events. She claimed top honors in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, while placing third in the long jump and fifth in the 100meter dash. She will represent Rayne High next week at Regionals in the long jump and both hurdle races.
Also claiming a first place for the Lady Wolves was Imari Jackson who cleared eight feet in the pole vault.
The final Lady Wolves qualifying for regionals are Taylor Arceneaux, a second place 100-4 toss in the discus, and Hannah Benoit with a second place finish in the high jump at 4-10 and a fourth place in the 400-meter dash.
Completing Rayne points on the night was Charlesha Dugas who claimed a 5th place in 200-dash.
On the boys’ side, the Wolves finished in seventh place with 12 points. Opelousas took the district title with 121 points.
Desmond Cole threw a second place toss in the shot put, and teammate Jacoby White collected four points for a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run. Both qualified for next week’s Regionals.
Rayne is slated to participate in the Region II-4A Track Meet on Thursday, May 1, at the Ragin Cajun Track on the UL-Lafayette campus.
