Opal Marie Benoit Ashby

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at The Pentecostals of Crowley Church for Opal Marie Benoit Ashby, 84, who died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 8:45 a.m. at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.

Rev. Len Whitaker will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday from 8 a.m. to service time at Pentecostals of Crowley Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years David E. Ashby Sr. of Crowley; three daughters, Sue A. Spell of Crowley, Evelyn Spaetgens of Abbeville and Frances Eversol of Panama City, Florida; two sons, Charles Ashby of Crowley and David E. Ashby Jr. of Crowley; one sister, Jeanette Denese of New Orleans; six brothers, Buford Benoit of Crowley, Luther “Mack” Benoit of Crowley; Ebert Benoit of Sunset, Charles Sarver of Oakdale, Hollins Sarver of Eunice and Woodrow Sarver of Crowley; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.
