OneAcadia will host ‘One Community’ here
The new parish-wide business alliance, OneAcadia, will host a “get acquainted” social on Thursday, June 19, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m for Rayne’s business and community leaders at The Green Room in Rayne.
The casual function will include a brief introduction of the organization and information on partnership with OneAcadia.
“We’ve got a positive momentum going and people are starting to ask more about our group. We wanted to provide an opportunity for anyone who would like to be part of this initiative to find out more and join our numbers,” says Pat Bordes, chairman of OneAcadia.
The idea for OneAcadia was born from the hope and vision of a unified parish with a common goal of promoting a healthy environment for progress through action.
Board member Henry Helo explains that the organization’s success depends on strong participation from community members. “We learned in our early meetings that not only do our citizens and business leaders have a right to expect more action to realize the parish’s full potential, but that they are also willing to roll up their sleeves and join hands across .the parish to create that action. It is true that there is strength in numbers. Since we are funded strictly through partnerships, increasing our numbers is vital to reaching our long term goals of public safety, education, business advocacy and economic development.”
Laurie Suire, interim executive director of OneAcadia, encourages guests to bring like-minded leaders and promises an event to bring the parish together as OneCommunity. “It’s going to be a great event to make friends and make progress.”
