Sybil Melancon Harrington

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Northside Assembly of God, Acadiana cathedral, for Sybil Melancon Harrington, 86, who died at 12:15 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at Acadia General Hospital.

Rev. Gerard Morgan will conduct the funeral services. Visitation may be observed on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Harrington was born July 9, 1928, in Crowley,  to the late Donat and Millie Hanks Melancon. She was a longtime member of Northside Assembly of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived for her family. She loved family gatherings and playing bingo.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Meche (Patrick) of Indian Bayou, Charmine Richard (Rickey) of Crowley and Theresa Bankston (Chris) of Crowley; one son Kenneth Harrington (Sharon) of Crowley; nine grandchildren, Tera Cain (Shawn), Mike Guidry (Katie), Ricky Richard, Donald Dietz III (Amanda), Brittany Dietz (Urshma), Kenneth Harrington Jr. (Kelsey), Brandy Joiner Joshua Rabalais (Heather) and Jared Rabalais (Toria); 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wilford Harrington (Mr. H); four sisters, Rose Floyd, Ella Cormier, Beatrice Hilliard and Bessie Floyd; and three brothers, Roy, Jimmy and Leonard Melancon.

Pallbearers will be Michael Guidry, Little Ricky Richard, Joshua Rabalais, Jared Rabalais, Kenneth Harrington Jr. and Donald Dietz III. Honorary pallbearers will be Mickel Guidry, Manden Guidry, Kaden Rabalais, Kristofer Bruce Rabalais, Lil Jared Rabalais, Parker Dietz, Gavin Cain and Christopher Breaux
