Possible tornado reported in Evangeline

Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are accessing damages near the community of Evangeline after a possible tornado passed through the area at approximately 6:49 p.m. Monday evening.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon his office received a report of downed power lines on Hackberry Lane and Simeo Road. Deputies also responded to a report of a barn collapse on Simeo Road but have confirmed that no one was near the barn.

Deputies are in the Evangeline area at this time checking for weather related damages.
