Motorists urged to avoid area

Motorists are urged to avoid the I-10 section between Rayne and Crowley (mile marker 85) due to a number of crashes involving numerous vehicles, including a number of 18-wheelers which occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
From reports, a number of big rigs were pulled onto the shoulder and in the middle section, most in an attempt to avoid any additional crashes.
The traffic back-up is approximately nine miles in length.
