Saturday ceremony unites Feerick, Istre

Unique live event portrait artist creates future heirloom at reception

Cecily Elise Feerick and Joshua Marti Istre were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Oct. 4, 2014, at St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette.

The ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Samuel Fontana and concelebrated by Msgr. Charles Mallet.   

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Syndi Prudhomme and Dr. Jon Feerick. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. J.B. Prudhomme and the late Mr. J.B. Prudhomme of Lafayette, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Adlie Feerick of St. Louis, Missouri. 

Cecily is a graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic High School, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, receiving a Bachelor of Science in child and family studies, and the University of Texas at Austin, where she received a Master of Science in social work. She is currently employed as a social worker at Lafayette General Medical Center.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Istre. He is the grandson of Mr. Hale L. Marti of Crowley, the late Mrs. Bobbie Jean Mesnard of Kansas City, Missouri, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Istre of Crowley. 

Joshua is a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and McNeese State University in Lake Charles, receiving a Bachelor of Science in nursing. He will graduate from Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge with a Master of Science in nurse anesthesia in December 2015.

Given in marriage by her mother and escorted by her brother, Rourke Feerick, the bride wore a gown designed by Lian Carlo with a beautiful Alencon lace in ivory over a creme underlay with a cap sleeve and a plunging, illusion-style back. She wore a satin ribbon in vanilla bean with fresh water pearl and mother of pearl with a delicate crystal hand beaded motif. The veil was ivory chapel length designed by Sara Gabriel. 

For her bouquet, the bride chose a classically-styled nosegay of white David Austin roses, mini callas, white O’Hara roses, white freesia and white stock.

Keeping her loved ones close to her heart, the bride wore her maternal grandmother’s earrings, and her bouquet was adorned with her mother’s rosary and her late maternal grandfather’s watch. 

Maid of honor was Maegan Ashly Feerick of Lafayette, sister of the bride. Serving as bridesmaids were Mollie Thibeaux Feerick of Lafayette, sister-in-law of the bride, and Jamie Istre Beard and Caitlin Marie Istre, both of Crowley, sisters of the groom. Serving as flower girls were Anna Estelle Prudhomme and Ivy Josephine Prudhomme of Lafayette, cousins of the bride. 

Best man was Steven Eric Stewart of Rayne, friend of the groom. The groomsmen were John Thomas Casanova of Church Point, Andrew Reed McFarlain of Crowley and Brandon Wayne Murrell of Crowley, all friends of the groom. Serving as ring bearer was Owen Paul Beard of Crowley, nephew of the groom.

Lectors were Linda Istre Guillotte of Crowley, godmother of the groom; Donna Cole Voight of Destin, Florida, godmother of the bride; and J.B. Prudhomme II of Lafayette, godfather of the bride. Serving as bearers of a crucifix, Bible and rosaries to be blessed during the ceremony were Caroline Elizabeth Odinet, Elijah James Odinet, Elizabeth Clarie Odinet and Kenneth Louis Odinet III, all of Lafayette and friends of the bride. 

Serving as program attendants were Jamie Ashley Eaton and Leslie Kramer Hamilton, both from Austin, Texas, and Jennifer Lynn Guillory and Jennifer Champagne Landry, both of Lafayette, all friends of the bride. 

Serving as ushers were Mark Steven Hanna of Lafayette, Paige Michael Hodges of Crowley and Luke Christopher Guidry and Trey Francis Meche, both of Church Point, all friends of the groom.

The wedding ceremony was accompanied in music by Tommy James Guidry on organ, Will Green on trumpet and The Immaculate Heart of Mary Gospel Choir, directed by Leon Cortez Winters. 

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the UL Lafayette Alumni Center in Lafayette. Guests were entertained by live music courtesy of Kross Fyre. An artist from Heirloom Live Event Painting of New Orleans captured their special moment, creating a fine art keepsake for the happy couple.

After returning from their honeymoon the couple will reside in Lafayette.
