District VII Meeting hosted by Rayne Garden Club

RAYNE - The Rayne Garden Club hosted the 2014 District VII Meeting on Wednesday, October 15, at The Bank of The Crossing at Mervine Kahn.
Theme for the meeting was “Choices Matter, Choose Green.”
The annual event welcomed guests from throughout the state with a light brunch and coffee at 9 a.m.
District VII Director Jennifer Granger welcomed garden club members and guests during the 10 a.m. opening ceremonies.
The Invocation was led by Magnolia Garden Club President Mable Forman.
The Pledge of Allegiance and Conservation Pledge was led by District VII Secertary Kathy Tell.
Rayne Garden Club President Julia Breaux welcomed everyone to Rayne and thanked everyone for attending.
The official welcome from the City of Rayne was delivered by Mayor Roland Boudreaux, with Chamber Director Fran Bihm presenting LGCF President Yvette Hebert a special gift from the city.
Introductions were made by Jennifer Granger and the response by Jane Anders, Oakdale Garden Club President and District VII Director-Elect.
Genny Marks of the Rayne Garden Club gave the Credentials Report, and the Rules of Order was explained by Linda Finley of the Lake Charles Garden Club who serves as parliamentarian of District VII.
Committee members to aprove minutes were Sulphur Garden Club President Kelly Keers, Welsh Garden Club President Bernadine Daboval, and Crowley Garden Club President Christie Brammer.
The treasurer’s report was given by District VII Treasurer Dr. Pam Langley.
Jennifer Granger gave business/announcements, and invitations were made for the upcoming 2015 State Convention and 2015 District VII Fall Meeting.
Jeremy Hebert of the LSU AgCenter was guest speaker for the day’s program, “Nutrient Defiencies In Ornamentals.” Hebert was presented a special gift for his informative program.
Margo Racca of the Iowa Garden Club said grace before a delicious meal, followed by a raffle drawing and door prizes provided by the Rayne Garden Club members.
The Benediction was given by Linda Finley of the Lake Charles Garden Club and the meeting was adjourned.
