Rose Dugas LeBlanc

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Rose Dugas LeBlanc, 78, who died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.

Rose received her bachelor’s degree from University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1973. After graduating from McNeese State University with her master’s degree in education in 1976, Rose went on to teach at St. Maria Goretti High School in Lake Arthur for three years. She then devoted 33 years of teaching at Gueydan Elementary and Gueydan High School.

She is survived by two sons, Ricky G. LeBlanc and wife Christina of New Haven, Michigan, and Jimmy P. LeBlanc and wife Rita of Crowley; one daughter, Connie L. and husband Rodney Trahan of Lake Charles; two brothers, Larry Dugas and wife Sherry of Gueydan and Kenneth Dugas and wife Jean of Crowley; 13 grandchildren, Jessica, Daudie, Jacob, Michael, Jim, Josh, Hailey, Courtney, Amber, Colby, Brandon, Leslie and Shawn; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcee Dugas and the former Claudia Simon.

The family requests that visiting hours were observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, located at 311 Fourth St. in Gueydan, on Monday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayer at 6 p.m.; and again Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for church at 10:45 a.m.
