Chief releases statement on lawsuit

The office of Crowley Chief of Police K.P. Gibson released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

"Several months ago, a procedural error was brought to the attention of the city administration regarding the hiring procedure of police officers. When the procedural error was discovered, my office and city administration immediately moved to correct the error. Every action which has been taken by my office has been presented and approved by the appointing authority/mayor.

"Every officer during this time frame was properly commissioned, trained and received their POST certification through a certified police academy. We will now allow the justice system to determine this matter."

The released added that there will be no other comments made from the chief's office while civil actions are pending.
