Lake Charles vows unite Kara Terro, David Turnage Jr.
LAKE CHARLES - The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was the setting on Saturday, September 13, 2014, for a 7 p.m. Nuptial Mass uniting in marriage Kara Alene Terro of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of Rayne, and David Joseph Turnage, Jr. of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of Slidell.
The bride is the daughter of Mary M. Terro and Keith Terro, both of Rayne. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond N. Mouton of Rayne, Marlene Terro of Rayne, Beverly Terro of Branch, and great-grandmother Enola Melancon of Mire.
Kara is a 2005 graduate of Rayne High School, 2010 graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles where she attained a bachelor’s degree as a registered nurse, and is presently employed by Cornerstone Hospital of Conroe, Texas.
The groom is son of David Turnage, Sr. and Stephanie M. Turnage of Slidell. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William Mudary, II of Arabia, La., and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Turnage of Picayune, Miss.
David is a 2003 graduate of Slidell High School, attained a master’s degree at McNeese State University in Lake Charles in 2008, and is employed by Sage Rider in Houston as a sales representative.
Against a musical backdrop, guests were ushered to their seats by Christopher Turnage, nephew of the groom; Keith Terro II, brother of the bride; and Blake Terro, cousin of the bride.
During the ceremony, Scriptures were recited by Amie Taylor, sister of the bride, and Candice Calamari, sister of the groom.
The bride entered the church on the arm of her father wearing a coutour, A-lined wedding gown by Rivini. The strapless, modified fit and flare gown was created with ivory Mikado and designed with a button down back to the edge of the extended train. A simple hair comb held a four-tier wedding veil of sheer French tulle. She carried a bridal bouquet of ivory roses, white hydrangeas, white stock, baby’s breath and a single yellow rose.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at The Pioneer Club in Lake Charles. Located atop the Chase Bank Building, guests were able to enjoy a view of the city and lake.
The reception area was noted with antique chandeliers which provided elegant lighting throughout the venue. Table centerpieces were kept simple and chic with baby’s breath and burlap.
Among the refreshments was the bride’s cake, a four-tier confection of bavarian cream, strawberry and coconut cream fillings with classic buttercream icing topped with a simple baby’s breath cake topper. The cake was served by Louise Vidrine, the bride’s godmother.
The groom’s cake was a warm peach cobbler topped with homemade vanilla ice cream.
Guests attended from points of Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi.
The couple enjoyed a wedding trip which included a white tail archery hunt in Gilman City, MO; an all-inclusive five-star stay at a resort in Cancun, Mexico; and a ski trip at Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
The couple are now residing in the Woodforest Community of Montgomery, Texas.
