Theunissen descendants gather for reunion

The St. Leo Catholic Church Hall in Roberts Cove served as the setting on Saturday, Feb. 21, for the 2015 Theunissen family reunion held for the descendants of the late Joseph Daniel Theunissen and Helen Meyer Theunissen.
The three surviving Theunissen children who were in attendance for the reunion included Matilda Johnson, Hilda Haure and Louise Landry, all of Rayne.
Also in attendance were most of the 45 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
Honored as the eldest family member in attendance was Matilda T. Johnson of Rayne, 89 years young.
Traveling the farthest to attend the reunion were Danny and Donald Theunissen of Mississippi.
Family members and guests enjoyed a covered dish lunch with visiting taking place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Approximately 125 family members were in attendance.
