35th annual Standard Flower Show results announced

 

CROWLEY - This year, the Crowley Garden Club held its Standard Flower Show on Thursday and Friday, March 19-20, at the Bank of Commerce.

The theme for the annual event’s 35th year was “Grandpa’s Garden, Grandma’s Attic.”

The winners were as follows:

Division I - Horticulture - “Vintage Vegetables”

Section A - Annuals and Biennials

Class 1 - Large 3-inch or above - one stem: first place, Jackie Fogleman (2) 

Class 2 - Small (up to 3-inch) - three stems: first places, Jackie Fogleman, Georgie Petitjean

Section B - Perennials

Class 8 - Small (up to 3-inch) - three stems: first place, Sissy Gall

Section C - Bulbs, Corms and Rhizomes and Tubers

Class 10 - Iris: second place, Sissy Gall

Class 12 - Any other: first place, Georgie Petitjean

Section E - Trees and Shrubs

Class 17 - Any other: first places, Sissy Gall (3), Judy Guillot; second places, Sissy Gall (2) Florence Russell

Class 19 - Dwarf: first place, Florence Russell

Section F - Vines

Class 20 - Flowering and fruiting: first place, Ruth McBride

Section G - Cut Ornamental Foliage

 Class 25 - Ferns, Garden Grown - one frond: first places, Jackie Fogleman (3), Sissy Gall, Georgie Petitjean (2)

Class 27 - Any other worthy, herbaceous decorative specimen: first places, Ruth McBride, Georgie Petitjean (2), Sissy Gall; second places, Sissy Gall (2)

Section H - Container Grown Plants

Class 28 - Bromeliads: first place, Ruth McBride

Class 32 - Foliage Plants: first places, Florence Russell
