Wolves, Ladies continue district diamond action
The Wolves and Ladies continued district play with a full slate of games, some even participating in double-headers.

The Wolves have had a hard time on the diamond in the past week as they have dropped some close contests, dropping their district slate to 1-3.
In a Sunday district contest, the Wolves fell to Crowley High 6-3 with Rayne’s late rally falling short.
With Crowley holding a 4-0 lead, the Wolves scored their three runs in the final four innings, falling short on runs by TJ Bearb and T-Jun Doucet (2). Brice Meche and Jayon Reed (2) were noted with RBI’s.
Rayne’s Hunter Meche was tagged with the loss on the mound
In a Thursday contest at Eunice, the Wolves fell 3-2 in extra innings to the Bobcats.
Rayne took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning as Ivy Thibodeaux and Jessie Romero crossed the plate.
But the early lead was chipped away with Eunice runs in the second and fifth for a tied score in regulation play.
The Bobcats scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth for the district win.
Rayne’s Hunter Keely took control on the mound throwing seven strikeouts while allowing two earned runs and nine hits.
In a 12-6 non-district loss to Redemptorist, Rayne was led at the plate by Jaylen Reed who was 3-for-4 on the day.
Adding to Rayne’s eight hits were Hunter Keely, Grant Abshire and T-Jun Doucet.
Hunter Meche and Blase Meche held the mound for the Wolves in the loss.
The Wolves are scheduled to travel to Beau Chene this week before hosting LaGrange today (Thursday) as the district heats up.
LADY WOLVES
The Rayne High Lady Wolves have been very busy over the last week with seven games under their belt, four of them district contests.
With district wins over Eunice, Washington-Marion and Opelousas, Rayne is now 5-1 in 4-4A District standings.
The Ladies collected easy wins over Eunice (16-1), Opelousas (19-1) and two wins during a double-header at Washington-Marion (16-1, 15-1).
In non-district play, Rayne fell to Kaplan (4-0) and Notre Dame (11-3) and claimed a 6-1 win over Tioga over the weekend.
Senior Rayne hurler Kelcie Bourgeois took the mound for all of the contests.
Leading at the plate were Whitney Fontenot, Katie Benoit, Cecily Schexnyder, Brooke Moore, Madelyn Dupont, Gabrielle Peltier, McKenzie Meche, Ashley Thibodeaux, Blair Bergeron and Bourgeois.
The Lady Wolves are slated to meet LaGrange this week for a double-header before traveling to Opelousas for the district homestretch next week.
