Arshavir Ian Michael

Arshavir Ian Michael M.D., a 61-year old anesthesiologist, died of natural causes while visiting his one week old first newborn granddaughter in Maryland on April 15, 2015.   

Arshavir is survived by his wife of 40 years Dr. Nicole Michael of Crowley.  Arshavir is tenderly remembered by his daughter Dr. Anika Michael of Brooklyn and his son Dr. Zishan Michael and his wife Dr. Erica Michael of Maryland, one brother Jehangir Michael, RN and one sister Naomi Michael both of Lafayette, and granddaughter Ava Nicole Michael of Maryland.  He also leaves to cherish his memory his nephew Max and nieces Brenna, Kirsi and Maya Michael of Lafayette.  He will also be remembered fondly by the loving medical, operating room and nursing staffs at Acadia General Hospital.

 Arshavir Michael was born in Lahore Pakistan January 31, 1954 and immigrated to the United States in his teens.  He graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1986 and was the Chief Anesthesiologist at American Legion Hospital, now Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, Louisiana for over 20 years.   He was actively involved for many years in AHDH and their humanitarian medical missions to Haiti.   

He was a charismatic and warm man who had an innate ability to make those around him feel instantly befriended.  Arsh was characterized by his wit, intelligence, charm, and a unique brand of kindness that touched the lives of many.  He was a gadget enthusiast, he loved cars, trains, working with his hands, travelling, history, and spending time with his family and his cats. He also loved living in the United States.

Memorial services are Saturday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at Chambers Funeral home 5801 Cleveland Ave, Riverdale, MD, 20737. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be given to his favorite charity: AHDH at 149 W. Lakeview Dr. LaPlace, Louisiana, 70068 or a charity of your choosing.

He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Crowley.
