Eddie Joseph Breaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, for Eddie Joseph Breaux, 89, who died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his residence in Lyons Point.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Visitation began at 11 a.m. Thursday and continues until 1:30 p.m. Friday. The Rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Breaux was born Jan. 28, 1926, in Rayne, to the late Martin and Louise Gautreaux Breaux. Eddie worked in the fields during his younger years with his godfather. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He worked many years in the oil field until he retired.
During his elderly years he worked on lawn mowers for his past time. He loved animals, raising pigs, chickens and riding horses. He was a good friend, an awesome cook, liked to fish, dance, play cards and party. He was a picker, teaser, hard worker and provider. He was funny or tried to be and he loved the Saints. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elgene Foreman Breaux; his children, Sheryl Breaux of Lyons Point, Edward “T-Boy” Breaux and fiancée Kristi Trahan of Crowley; Bradley and Rhonda Breaux of Lyons Point, Cynthia and Charles Ashby Sr. of Ebenezer, Gwendolyn “Gwen” and Ronnie LaComb of Lyons Point, Susan and Wayne Trahan of Kaplan, Anthony “Tony” Breaux of Rayne, and Tammy and David Moore of Crowley; a brother, Wilbert Joseph “T-Snook” Breaux of Chatsworth, California; 16 grandchildren, Stephanie and Troy Romero, Chad Breaux, Bobby Eddie and Chelse Breaux, Marcy and Mike Spell, Edward “Tiger” Breaux, Tina Breaux, Kevin and Jamie Breaux, Brittney Broussard and fiancée Scott Bertrand, Brad and Ashley Breaux, Taylor Benoit, Cody and Christie Ashby, Casey and Ashley Ashby, Candace Hunt, Ryan and Dotty Lacomb, April and Donte Washington, Chuck and Lori Ashby, Franzel Breaux, Shannon and Cortney Breaux and Mitchell and Kaylah Breaux; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and his two godchildren, Ronald Breaux and Peggy Simon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Dustin Joseph Lacomb and Paul Gilbert Adams; brothers and sisters, Joe C. Breaux, Edna B. Simon, Leroy “Peanut” Breaux, Curtis Joseph “C.J.” Breaux, Ludy Belle “Tut” B. Bourque, Rita Grace “Nookie” B. Bourque, Willie George “Sonny” Breaux and Emma “Tutty Girl” B. Duhon.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chad Breaux, Tiger Breaux, Brad Breaux, Cody Ashby, Ryan Lacomb and Shannon Breaux. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons, Edward “T-Boy” Breaux, Bradley Breaux and Anthony “Tony” Breaux, and grandsons Bobby Eddie Breaux, Kevin Breaux, Casey Ashby, Mitchell Breaux and godchild Ronald Breaux.
