Mouton claims first, second at 4-A State Meet
BATON ROUGE - Rayne High School was well-represented on Saturday, May 9, during the 4-A State Track Meet as Tristan Mouton made the medal platform twice.
The returning 300-meter hurdle champion claimed the top spot once again, breaking the tape with a time of 46.98.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Mouton tried to improve last year’s second place finish, but 14-hundreths of a second landed her again in the runner-up slot with a time of 15.58 seconds.
“That race was kinda crazy,” stated Mouton of the 100-meter race. “The girl on the side of me fell and kinda slowed me down. It might have been a different story if that would not have happened.”
“Overall, I had a good day,” Mouton said with a smile during her final meet as a Rayne High trackster.
The 4-A State Track Meet was held again at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge on the LSU campus.
Mouton claimed first place in both events (100 and 300 meter hurdles) during the recently completed Regional II-4A Track Meet held at UL-Lafayette’s Cajun Field.
Mouton hasn’t decided where to continue her track career. When asked, she notes that she would like to stay close to home. Time will tell.
