Wedding vows exchanged by Duos, Joubert

Claire Elise Duos of Lafayette and Seth Jordon Joubert of Eunice were joined in holy matrimony on the afternoon of Saturday, May 9, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder celebrated the 1 p.m. Nuptial Mass.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Clay M. Duos of Eunice. Mrs. Duos is the former Carolyn Kay Lejeune. Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. Clarice Zaunbrecher Lejeune of Iota and the late Rodney W. Lejeune, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clabert Duos of Ville Platte.
Claire graduated from St. Edmund High School in Eunice before attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, and Northwestern State University, from which she graduated with a Master of Science degree in nursing. She is presently employed as a family nurse practitioner at Med Ed of Louisiana.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ray Joubert of Eunice. Mrs. Joubert is the former Norma Godeaux. Grandparents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Nat Godeaux of Eunice and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Joubert of Opelousas.
Seth is a graduate of Eunice High School and Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and economics. He currently works as a financial services representative with State Farm Insurance.
Guests were escorted to their seats by William Burton of Crowley, cousin of the bride, and Dr. Matthew Mazoch of Little Rock, Arkansas, brother-in-law of the bride.
Musical selections for the ceremony were performed by pianist Connie Beaugh, violinist Tommy Benoit and trumpeter Ryan Dufrene.
Pieces included “Rondeau,” “Paris Nocturne,” “Largo,” “Prelude in C,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Ave Maria.”
Selected scriptures were read by Cynthia Nobles, godmother of the bride, and Danielle Montgomery, sister of the groom.
Accompanied by the strains of “Trumpet Voluntary,” the bride was escorted to the altar by her father.
Claire was gorgeous in a full length silk slip gown featuring a lace overlay embellished with fine floral embroidery and sparkling crystals. The illusion scoop neckline was layered over a fitted sweetheart bodice and was echoed by the dress’s illusion cap sleeves and illusion lace back. A beaded belt defined the gown, which had a classic A-line silhouette, at its natural waistline, and the dress was finished with crystal buttons.
She paired her gown with a sheer scallop edged fingertip veil trimmed with silver thread work and crystals.
The bride carried a traditional bouquet of cream peonies, cream roses, Sahara roses, Picasso calla lilies, Queen Anne’s lace, porcelina roses, hybrid statice and seeded eucalyptus with hand-tied stems wrapped with ivory satin ribbon.
The bride’s sisters, Dr. Caroline Duos Mazoch of Little Rock and Natalie Duos of Eunice, served as matron and maid of honor, respectively.
Serving as bridal attendants were Amanda Williams Dugas of St. Martinville, Elisabeth Perron Romero of Lafayette and Morgan Brown Johnson of Slidell, all friends of the bride, and Anya Kaye Zaunbrecher of Branch, niece of the groom.
The attendants, who entered the sanctuary to “Canon in D,” were clad in elegant full length eggplant gowns that featured lace-covered V-neck bodices, beautifully designed sheer backs and flowing A-line skirts.
They carried bouquets of lavender roses, hybrid statice, Queen Anne’s lace, misty blue limonium and cream roses hand-tied with ivory satin ribbon.
Dr. Patrick Cutbirth of Lafayette, friend of the groom, fulfilled the duties of best man.
Standing as groomsmen were Dr. Daniel Boggs of Shreveport, Zachary Soileau of Eunice, Jacob Gorham of Eunice and Jonathan Bonck of Houston, Texas, all friends of the groom, and Hans Zaunbrecher of Branch, nephew of the groom.
Following the ceremony, family and friends joined the newlywed couple for a reception at The Abacus in Lafayette. The venue was beautifully decorated with tables topped with glowing candles and rose petals.
The bride’s three-tiered ivory cake was embellished with ivory Jacobean-style floral scrollwork on alternating tiers and ivory pearls at the base of each tier. The top and bottom tiers were filled with butter pecan, and the middle tier was filled with raspberry cream and adorned with the initial “J.” Cream-colored roses graced the top of the cake, with Queen Anne’s lace adorning each of the three tiers. It was served by the bride’s godmother.
The groom’s cake was a yellow cake with chocolate fudge filling and chocolate buttercream icing and was displayed on a tree slab. The cake was decorated with a hand-carved chocolate duck, edible gum paste leaves, cattails, shotgun shells and a duck call, all to reflect the groom’s love of duck hunting. The cake was served by Sharon Menard, aunt of the bride.
On the evening before the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Chef Roy’s restaurant in Rayne. The event included a slide show presentation of the couple’s lives made by the bride’s sister Natalie.
The couple has made their home in Lafayette.
