Mary “Pam” Barbier

The family and friends of Mary “Pam” Barbier are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on July 11, 2015, at the age of 75.
On Nov. 21, 1939 ,Mary E. Desormeaux was born to Lovic Charles Desormeaux and Mazie Duhon Desormeaux. Mary was a homemaker who dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She had an incredible love for her children and grandchildren. Mary was also a member of the Ladies Alter Society, Come Lord Jesus Prayer Group, Love One Another Prayer Group and a Lay Minister. In her spare time she enjoyed making crafts, interior decorating and gardening. Mary was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her sons Charles (Robert Reuhlman) Barbier, RN, of Metairie, Christopher (Krysti) Barbier of Covington, Carl (Karen) Barbier of Broussard, Terry (Tammy) Barbier of Helena, Alabama, and Jean-Paul (Courtney) Barbier of Mermentau; four daughters, Claire (Richard) Rea of Haltom City, Texas, Catherine Barbier of Metairie, Colette (Lance) Beell of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer (Kevin) Myers of Mermentau; one brother, L. C. Desormeaux Jr. of Mermentau; three sisters, Margaret Alice (Paul) Cassisa of Baton Rouge, Lois Yvonne Villarrubia of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Annabelle (Robert) Pierce of Houston, Texas; 22 grandchildren, Meghan (Tom) Black and Sarah Barbier, Timothy (Stephanie), Monique and Jonathan Rea, and Michelle (Dakota) Lorance, Anthony and Carlie DiVincenti, Emilie, Evan and Elise Barbier, Audrey Barbier, Christian, Trinity and Alex Barbier and Emma, John, Abbiegail, Kate, Myra, Conor and Dylan Myers; and five great-grandchildren, Michael Ramierez, Timothy Rea and Braydon, Bea, and Allison Black.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lovic and Mazie Desormeaux; her beloved husband, Terry M. Barbier; and three brothers, Charles, Andrew and Phillip Desormeaux.
Funeral services to honor Mary’s life will be held at St. John the Evangelist in Mermentau on Tuesday, July 14, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Randall P. Moreau officiating. Burial will follow in Duhon Cemetery. Visitation was held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, July 13, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family requests that visitation resume on July 14 from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral service.
