Martin “Blue” John Lewis

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Rayne for Martin ‘Blue’ John Lewis, 81, of Rayne who passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, LA. Father Richard Wagner will be officiating the services. Interment will follow in the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Church Cemetery.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Carney Funeral Home, which is located at 602 North Pierce St, Lafayette, LA. A rosary will be prayed and lead by Father Richard Wagner at 7:00 p.m.
Martin “Blue” John Lewis was born on October 14, 1933 in Acadia Parish, LA. To the parents of the late Wilson J. Lewis and the late Lizzie Davis.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother Johnny Lewis, two sisters Nola Nixon and Helena Senatte
He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Marlene Charles (Roy), and Darlene Wilson (Elderly Larry) both of Lafayette, LA, and Martin Lewis ( Tequila ) of Slidell, LA, and his mother Bernadette Cole of Rayne, LA and his sisters, Gwendolyn J. Rochester (Rev. Charles Sr.) and Vanessa Jolivette both of Rayne, LA, and Yolanda J. Marshall ( Kenneth Sr. ) of Denham Springs, LA; one sister Mary Guidry of Baton Rouge, LA, eight grandchildren Madison Lewis, Cherita McCarter, Donald Cormier Jr., Trevelyn Charles, Zion Wilson, Zarri Wilson, Zirra Wilson, and Latisha Wilson, three great grandchildren Indya McCarter, Chance Antoine, and Lance Antoine; along with a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be, Rev. Charles Rochester Sr., Kenneth Marshall Sr., Larry Babineaux, Anthony Plummer, Chase Guidry, and Cardell Guidry
Honorary Pallbearers include, Charles Rochester Jr., Quincy Rochester, Kieran Jolivette
