Marie Ann Gilbert

Funeral services are pending for Marie A. Gilbert, 54, a native of Rayne.
Marie passed away peacefully at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Fort Walton Beach, Forida.
A 1979 graduate of Rayne High School, Marie earned a volleyball scholarship to the Mississippi University of Women where she attained her degree. She worked in retail and lived in Florida for the past 30 years. Marie also treasured her three dogs.
She is survived by her mother, Ednez B. Gilbert of Rayne; five sisters, Elaine Gilbert of Rayne, Lilly G. Melancon and husband Robley of Lafayette, Jackie G. Melancon and husband Dale of Crowley, Michelle Gilbert of Austin, Texas, and Linda Gilbert of Lafayette; and three brothers, Larry Gilbert and wife Pat of Duson, Daniel Gilbert and wife Pauline of Rayne and Mitchell Gilbert of Stafford, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Millard “Milo” Gilbert; brothers, Tommy Gilbert and Donald Gilbert; and sister, Renola G. Richard.
The Gilbert Family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the hospital staff at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for the loving care they gave to Marie. Also, thanks to the Davis Watkins Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach for their support and guidance.
