Allen George Bergeron, Sr.
Rayne – A Mass of Christian Burial for Allen George Bergeron, Sr., 87, of Rayne was celebrated on Monday, October 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Clint Trahan served as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2, Rayne.
Visitation was observed on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continued on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.. in the funeral home.
Mr. Bergeron passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. in a Rayne health care facility.
A lifelong resident of the Rayne/Mire area, Mr. Bergeron was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served his community as a longtime member of Rayne Volunteer Fire Department. He was also an active member of Knights of Columbus, Council 7411 in Mire.
Mr. Bergeron owned and operated Bergeron and Son Plumbing for many years. His greatest joy in life was being with and caring for his family.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth L. Bergeron and wife, Jane, of Lafayette; daughter, Diane Bergeron of Rayne; sister, Helen Labbe of Lafayette; brothers, Patrick Bergeron and wife, Margaret, of Rayne, and Ray Bergeron and wife, Glenda, of Cankton; grandchildren, Michelle, Kenny, Cindy, Jaimee, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Lauren, Conner, Mark Stephan, Blaire, Lindsay, Callie, Chance, Emily, and Robert; great-great-grandchildren, Madeline, Hartley, Madden, and Hayes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Bergeron in death were his wife, Irene Broussard Bergeron; son, Allen George Bergeron, Jr.; parents, John and Loreda Mire Bergeron; brothers, John Jasper Bergeron, Bradley Bergeron, and J.B. Bergeron; and sisters, Renella Roy and Audrey Fleming.
Serving as pallbearers were Pat Bergeron, Dain Bergeron, Michael Bennett, Kenny Bergeron, Jr., Ronnie Cormier, and John Fuselier.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Rayne Guest Home, and Hospice of Acadiana for the excellent and compassionate care given to Mr. Bergeron as he went through his illness.
