Oran Leche Pryor
Rayne - Funeral services were held at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. for Oran Leche Pryor, 77, who died peacefully Saturday, October 31, 2015, in Southwind Nursing Home in Crowley, LA surrounded by his family.
Rev. Mark Broussard, chaplain of Lamm Family Care Home Health and Hospice, conducted the services.
Interment was in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery, Indian Bayou, LA.
Surviving are one daughter, Daphne Pryor Comeaux and husband, Rickey, of Maurice; two sons, Kevin Pryor of Rayne, and Chad Pryor of Rayne; one grandson, Brandon Alleman and wife, Casi, of Maurice; one granddaughter, Alex Comeaux of Maurice; his first great-grandchild on the way, Tristan James Alleman; step-granddaughters, Mandy Benoit and husband, Paul, Natalie Comeaux and fiance’, Robbey Himel, step grandchildren, Nicolas Credeur, Amber Credeur, Tyler Domingue, Morgan Domingue, and Jesse Boudreaux; two brothers, Eric Pryor and companion, Bret, of Irving, TX, Jack Pryor and wife, Martha, of Roberts Cove, three sisters, Wrennie Pryor DePetra of Minneapolis, MN, Rena Pryor Brannock and husband, Ken, of Fairhope, AL, and Barbara Pryor O’Brien and husband, Jim, of Hockley, TX; his sisters-in-law, Audrey Pryer, Ella Pryor, and Betty Prejean; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Joy Lee Brasseaux Pryor; one granddaughter, Anita Ann Alleman; father, Oran Calvin Pryor; mother, Rose Marie Touchet Pryor; three brothers, Clement Pryor, Franklin Pryor, Leo Pryor; and two nephews, Patrick Pryor, and Grady Pryor.
Born in Indian Bayou on May 22, 1938. Mr. Pryor was a lifetime resident of Acadia Parish, residing both in Crowley and Rayne. He was a 1956 graduate of Indian Bayou High School and member of both the Indian Bayou and Centenary United Methodist Churches.
Mr. Pryor was employed with the Rayne Police Department in the early 1960’s and later with Lafayette Police Department, retiring as a Corporal in 1986.
Mr. Pryor had a deep devotion for music of all kind. He was a member of the Acadiana Cajuns, a Crowley-based band, organized by “Chuck” Cormier in the early 1990’s, who donated time to entertaining senior citizens at area nursing homes. Mr. Pryor will be most remembered for his amazing and unique talent playing both the French and Piano accordions. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Friends were received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA. on Monday, November 2, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 3, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Lamm Family Care Home Health and Hospice and Southwind Nursing and Rehab Center. The family would like to acknowledge his nurses, Sheryl Trahan and Sandra Kibodeaux and his treating physician, Dr. Patrick LeLeux for their loving care, compassion and support shown to Mr. Pryor during his illness.
