Eldridge “E. J.” Lejeune

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eldridge “E.J.” Lejeune announces his passing on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota. Entombment will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum with Father Jude Thierry, celebrant and Father Mikel Polson, concelebrant.
Eldridge, known as ‘’E.J.’’ to all, enjoyed his grandchildren and supported all of their activities. He also loved Iota sports. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 60 years, Joyce Miller Lejeune of Iota; his son, Shannon Lejeune of Bayou Pigeon; his daughter, Renee Bushnell of Iota; brother, Gene Lejeune and wife Revee of Kokomo, Indiana; sisters, Leona Blanchard and husband Wallace of Egan, Thelma Istre of Egan and Leora Amy of Maxie; seven grandchildren, Stacy Sharp and husband Sam of Kinder, Kristi Rambin and husband Colby, Casey Thibodeaux and husband Kent, Terry Paul Bushnell II and Tyler Joseph Bushnell, all of Iota, Abbey Lejeune of Beaumont, Texas, and Dillon Lejeune of Gonzales; nine great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge J. and Alex Myers Lejeune; son in-law, Terry Bushnell; brother, Harold Lejeune; and sister, Mary Clement.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Sunday, Dec. 20, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., and again on Monday, Dec. 21, from 8 a.m. until services. Mrs. Judia Lacombe will recite a Rosary at 6 p.m. Sunday evening.
