Yvonne Seneca Foreman

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Yvonne Geraldine Orillion Seneca Foreman, 89, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at 5:30 a.m. at Wellbrooke of Kokomo in Kokomo, Indiana.
Mrs. Foreman was a graduate of Crowley High School and Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans as was a registered nurse. Following her graduation she worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans. In 1948, she and her husband moved to New York City for seven years where her daughter was born. She moved back to Crowley in 1955 and worked as a private duty nurse. She also worked for years as a staff nurse at Acadia Hospital and American Legion Hospital. In 1965, she became a public health nurse at the Acadia Parish Health Unit and retired after 28 years of service as nurse supervisor.
She belonged to Les Dames Acadienne Club, Acadia Parish Extension Club, Beta Delphine Study Club, The Crowley Garden Club and The Crowley Art Association while she was still active in Crowley. She was a former member of the Louisiana Nurses Association and the Crowley Town Club where she was in a Mardi Gras Court. She participated in the Crowley Twinning with Vaux-sur-Sure, Belgium. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society, Sister Justine’s Bible Study Group and Sister Isadore’s Rosary Group. She was devoted to her two grandchildren and she was their Mimi.
She and Willis loved to travel. They visited Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean several times, along with Alaska, Hawaii and Nova Scotia and most of the United States. She also visited China and Indonesia.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in George G. Orillion family plot of Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Foreman is survived by one daughter, Marlene Seneca Pohl and her husband Patrick of Kokomo; two grandchildren, Calvin Seneca Pohl of Lansing, Michigan, and Olivia Seneca Pohl of Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by parents, George Gregory Orillion and Elida Jeanis Orillion Faulk; her sisters, Marguerite Orillion, Genevieve O. Thibodeaux and Jeanne O. St. Raymond; one brother, Alfred Gregory Orillion; her husbands, Harry T. A. Seneca and Willis Grady Foreman; and her longtime companion, George “Bo” Samson.
