Mina Spell Ford

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Mina Spell Ford, 96, who died at 3:53 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in Crowley.
Rev. Lewis Morris, pastor of First Methodist Church of Crowley, will conduct the services. Burial will follow in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Mina was born April 9, 1919, in Indian Bayou. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She worked for the Daily Signal for 16 years as a proof reader. She was also involved with the Salvation Army, Crowley Christian Care and was a Pink Lady at the American Legion Hospital for 30 years. She was a sales director with Olen Mills Portrait Studio.
Mrs. Ford is survived by her son, John Ford of Crowley; son-in-law, Jim Duplantis of Baton Rouge; and a sister, Mary Dubose of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horence and Hester Morgan Spell; her husband, Sylvan Ford; and her daughter, Kathleen Duplantis.
The family request any memorial donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Crowley or the Indian Bayou Methodist Church.
