Roberta “Wilda” Morgan Ray Van Drome
Roberta “Wilda” Morgan Ray Van Drome of Crowley returned to her Lord on March 30, 2016, at the age of 82.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta (Ray) Crabtree and son-in-law Dale of Jamestown, Indiana; daughter, Catherine Ray of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; son, Troy “Bud” Ray and daughter-in-law Barb of Manhattan, Montana; and five grandchildren, Michele (Copes) Holmes of Roseville, California, Stephanie Ray of Lancaster, Heather Crabtree of Louisville, Kentucky, Danielle Crabtree of Lebanon, Indiana, and Michael Ray of Sturgis, South Dakota. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Morgan Holmes of Roseville.
Born in 1934 in Overton, Texas, she was one of 10 children. She was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Solomon Morgan; her sisters, Ruth Morgan Avant and Violet Morgan Duncan; and four brothers, O.B., Wynen, Myrlen and Richard Morgan.
She is survived by her sister, Irma Morgan Campbell of Houma, and two brothers, Kenneth Morgan of Lafayette and Bryan “Butch” Morgan of Deer Park, Texas.
Wilda loved an adventure and spent many years traveling and working in National Parks including the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Denali in Alaska. She enjoyed drawing and painting, especially of nature and landscapes. She had a love of music and singing. Wilda had great pride in the kitchen, especially preparing her biscuits and gravy. Wilda “never met a stranger she didn’t know.”
Services were held on Sunday, April 3, at Indian Bayou Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m.
