Early morning shooting in parish
CROWLEY – Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated that his office received a call around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning in reference to an altercation and shooting that occurred on Mamou Prairie Hwy located in the northwest corner of Acadia Parish.
An investigation into the incident revealed that a 22-year-old male subject was shot in his left leg following an altercation with 19-year-old Kendrick Ray Guillory of Jelks Street, Eunice.
The victim was transported to Jennings American Legion Hospital where he underwent surgery.
Kendrick Ray Guillory was arrested a short time later and charged with attempted second degree murder, resisting by flight, reckless operation and speeding. He was placed in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $200,000 by District Judge Glenn Everett.
A 16-year-old female juvenile was also arrested in connection with the incident and charged with accessory.
She was released into the custody of her parents pending court.
The victim remains in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The investigation is continuing.
