Barbara Ann Girouard Sonnier

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood for Barbara Ann Girouard Sonnier, 75 who died July 21, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Fr. Randall Moreau, pastor of St. Margaret Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Barbara was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She devoted her life to caring for her family and providing a loving home. Having a gift for baking, she spent countless hours preparing birthday and wedding cakes that were made from scratch and decorated to perfection. She was also gifted in knitting, sewing, quilting, and crocheting beautiful works of art for family and friends. In her later years her grandchildren were her most precious gifts and she showered them all with love and affection. Barbara was a huge supporter of Notre Dame High School and the Pios, spending many long hours devoting her time and energy to the Notre Dame Fair. She also volunteered her time to the Pink Ladies at the American Legion Hospital and her church family at St. Margaret’s in Estherwood.
She is survived by her husband, Percy Sonnier of Crowley; two daughters, Mari S. Mayeux and her husband Louis J. “Buddy” of Crowley and Kristi S. Miller and her husband, Danny of Rayne; two sons, Thomas Sonnier and his wife Michelle of Lafayette and Charles Sonnier and his wife Catrelle of Lafayette; and eight grandchildren, Louis Mayeux III, Andrew Sonnier, Caroline Sonnier, Cambrie Sonnier, Carlin Sonnier, Alex Miller, Logan Miller and Ross Edward Miller.
Mrs. Sonnier is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Delta Leger Girouard; and one grandson, Zachary Daniel Miller.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Catholic High School: 901 N. Eastern Ave. Crowley, LA 70526.
