Miss Lou is having the grandest of reunions with her Heavenly Father, family and friends, as she left this earth.
Interment was in the Arceneaux Cemetery in Rayne.
Surviving are one daughter, Melissa Thibodeaux and companion Lisa Flint of Church Point; stand-in mom for Tammy Miller and husband Mitchell of Sunset; nanny of Sara Chaisson of Church Point, Leslie Miller Bonin and husband Keith of Lafayette; granny to Kelci Kosin and husband Matthew of Muncie, Indiana, Halei Jackson of Lafayette; greatest great-granny to Izra Jackson, James Kosin; taunt Lou to Kaylie Etie, Taylor and Jesse Miller; and brother, Alvin Abshire of Georgia.

Miss Lou proved there were no boundaries by blood to whom she treated and called family and no matter where she went, be it home or in a health care setting, she kept an open door as a standing invitation to making a new friend.
The list would be lengthy and great should each person that cared for her and that she cared for so deeply be named, but the family she leaves behind wishes to express a huge heartfelt thank you to all those that came in and out of her life; as she will be greatly missed but so fondly remembered.
To all the staff of Lafayette General, LTAC Dept., Respiratory Care, Point Villa Apartments, St. Joseph’s Hospice Home, Maison de Lafayette Guest Home and the myriad of individual doctors and their teams, and most affectionately Nicole and her earth angels of Church Point Pharmacy, Dianne “Safe” Melancon, Paul Babineaux and cousin Rose, words can never fully express nor convey the happiness you brought her, nor will our humble words of gratitude repay all of the love and support you have shared throughout the years.
Miss Lou would have loved for you to stop by Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., in Rayne and spend a few final moments with her on Saturday, June 25, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 26, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
