Clemile Joseph Suire
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Clemile Joseph Suire, 82, who died Oct. 19, 2014, at Southwest War Veteran Home in Jennings.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Clemile was born June 17, 1932, in Forked Island. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Staff Sgt. Clemile Suire entered the United States Army in June 1949. After technical school he was assigned as a motor maintenance specialist.
Sgt. Suire is a graduate of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy and was proficient with the caliber 45 pistol. Sgt. Suire is a Korean War and Vietnam War era veteran and is credited with a three-year tour of duty in Germany and an 18-month tour in Korea. His awards and decorations include; National Defense Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal (four awards), Korean Service Medal with four campaign stars and the United Nations Service medal. Staff Sgt. Clemile Suire was honorably retired from the United States Army on July 1969.
After retiring from the U.S. Army he worked as an automatic transmission specialist at Shetler Ford for 20 years. He then worked with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for many years. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 15 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6720.
He is survived by one daughter, Peggy Breaux and husband John of Crowley; three sons, Mark Suire and wife Kathy of Lewisville, Texas, Olen Suire and wife Melissa of Cartersville, Georgia, and John Suire and wife Patty of Crowley; one brother, Roy Suire of Crowley; five grandchildren, Kim Villejoin, Kristy Dronet, Trey Suire, Nicholas Suire and Trisha Suire; six great-grandchildren, Bailee Villejoin, Hanna Ardoin, Mazie Parker, Duke Parker, Tallen Suire and Sophia Suire; and one great-great-grandchild, Beau Hodges.
Mr. Suire is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Richard Suire; four brothers, Minus, Olan, Drozan and Marcel Suire; and two sisters, Stella Broussard and Estelle Stevens.
