Edmond Eugene Dupré Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at St. Leo Catholic Church in Lafayette for Edmond Eugene Dupré Jr. who passed away on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015.
Msgr. Robie Robichaux, JCL, pastor of St. Leo the Great Church, will be celebrant of the Mass.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
Edmond, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Edmond E. Dupré Sr. and the former Geneva Burleigh.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Johanna Dischler Dupré; his children, Louise Logan and husband Patrick, Beth Cancienne and husband Craig, Eddie Dupré and wife Roxanne, Joan Craft and husband Jim, Annette Menard and husband Rickey, Becky Vincent and husband Ted, Matthew Dupré and wife Monica and Molly Daigle and husband Ted; grandchildren, Renee Box and husband Mike, Craig Cancienne Jr. and wife Anne-Marie, Brent Cancienne and wife Courtney, Laura Cangiamilla and husband Vincent, Stacey Heidbrink and husband Tommy, Amy Peltier and husband Toby, Ross Craft and fiancee Dana Diesi, Beau Craft and wife Andrea, Loretta Heggelund and husband Kris, Rickey Menard and wife Betsy, Christopher Vincent and fiancee Kellie Seaux, Claire Vincent, Reid Dupré, Max Daigle, Gabe Daigle, Sam Daigle, John Thomas Daigle, Mary Grace Daigle, Pete Daigle and Mikey Daigle; great grandchildren, Cassandra, Rebecca, Kristina, Mary Hadley, Emma, Drew, Brody, Landon, Wyatt, Abigail, Connor, Ian, Ben, Kris, Madison, Bella, and Dylan; and his siblings, Rose Durke and Jimmy Dupré and wife Linda.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Gladys Duhon and Cecile Stevens.
Edmond attended school in Opelousas. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 and shipped out to the Pacific Theatre for the invasion of Japan. After the war, he remained in Japan on occupation duty for two years. He returned home and attended SLI and graduated in civil engineering. He received a commission in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and served 21 years before retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
Edmond was a member of St. Leo the Great Church, having served for 12 years on the parish council. He worked for the city of Lafayette for 15 years before starting his own business as a civil engineer and land surveyor. He retired after 25 years in business and transitioned to land development, which was still a passion at the time of his passing. He loved fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. His purpose in life was to make sure that his children and grandchildren were always cared for.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Craig Cancienne Jr., Brent Cancienne, Ross Craft, Rickey Menard Jr., Beau Craft and Christopher Vincent.
