Elizabeth “Betty” Lois Frugé Gonsoulin
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, at 3 p.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Elizabeth “Betty” Lois Frugé Gonsoulin, 84, who passed away on Aug. 25, 2015.
Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, pastor of St. Alphonsus Church, will be the celebrant. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Crowley.
Betty, a resident of Maurice, was the daughter of the late Daniel Frugé and the former Leah Lafosse.
Betty attended high school and college at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau where she received the special honor designation as a Child of Mary. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Betty had a mischievous sense of humor that made others laugh.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Edmond Gonsoulin Jr.; daughters, Marie Therese Weiss and Leah Celeste Popp; sons, Douglas Edward Gonsoulin, Stephen Paul Gonsoulin, Francis Timothy Gonsoulin, Daniel James Gonsoulin and Roger Edmond Gonsoulin III; four sisters, Marjorie Frugé, Barbara Boylston, Yvonne Breaux and Tessie Patterson; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Msgrs. Donald and Edward Frugé and Daniel Frugé; and her sister, Leah Hodges
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice on Friday, Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home by the Ladies Altar Society.
Pallbearers will be her five sons and grandson, Jay Gonsoulin.
