Elmae Simon Elliott

The family and friends of Elmae Simon Elliott are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Sept. 17, 2015, at the age of 93.
Elmae was born in Gueydan to Theolus Simon and Alicia Simon on Sept. 20, 1921. Elmae was a retired business owner. She and her family owned and operated Elliott Slaughter House. She loved to cook for her family, especially during the holidays.
Elmae is survived by three sons, James Elliott (Connie) of Gueydan, Michael Elliott (Dorothy) of Gueydan and Rick Elliott (Eve Taylor) Jr. of Lafayette; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Theolus and Alicia Simon; two sisters, Grace Simon and Nita Bertrand; four brothers, Teonis, Israel “Tut”, Pete and Sheldon Simon.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gueydan on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. with Father Corey Campeaux officiating. Burial followed in the Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.
Visitation was held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan, on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Friday. Visitation resumed on Saturday at 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.
