Elnora ‘Nora’ (Thompson) Fike

 

Funeral services for Elnora “Nora” (Thompson) Fike, 83, of Liverpool, N.Y., and formerly of Crowley will be held Wednesday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, located at 705 N. Main St. in North Syracuse, N.Y. Rev. Damon Gagnier of United Church of Auburn in Auburn, N.Y., will officiate.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at New Comer Funeral Home. Internment will be at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery in Syracuse, N.Y.

Nora passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at home, surrounded by family.

Elnora was born Jan. 5, 1931 in Point Coupee to the late Jesse L. Thompson and Dorsina Bajeaux. She married the late Walter J. Fike, who preceded her in death in 2011.

Nora honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was discharged as an Airman 3rd Class. She was also a mother who devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Tim) Botsford, Barbara (Earl) Turner, Walter A. Fike and Kenneth (Clara) Fike; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, Nathan (Joyce) Thompson; two sisters, Patricia Meaux and Margery “Midge” Fontenot; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Sandra Downey (in 2000); her parents; one brother, Anthony Thompson; and two sisters, Barbara Comeaux and Gerry Guidry.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

New Comer Funeral Home of North Syracuse has been entrusted with arrangements.
