Gloria Faye Olivier Pousson

The family and friends of Gloria Faye Oliver Pousson are mourning the loss of their loved one who was suddenly called from this life on October 18, 2013 at the age of 82. She was born in Egan to Theo Oliver, Sr. and Lucy Quibodeaux Oliver on May 17, 1931. She worked as a bookkeeper and enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, crocheting and reading. Gloria was a loyal member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She loved the Lord and served him faithfully for many years. Her devotion to God will serve as comfort to her family knowing she is safe and happy with Him in Heaven. Gloria lived each day to the fullest to love and care for her family. Her presence in all of their lives will never be forgotten.  

Gloria will be terribly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, not to mention the numerous friends that she loved so dearly. She is survived by her two sons, Randy Pousson (Jeanne) and James “Pappy” Pousson (Jennifer) all of Egan; a daughter, Sandy Blake (Bart) of Sulphur; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Gloria also leaves behind to cherish her memory one brother, Dayton Oliver (Yvonne) of New Iberia; two sisters, Barbara Hornbeck (Clyde) of Kemha, Texas and Susan Istre (Gaston) of Egan;  and a sister-in-law, Virginia Hebert of Egan.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Pousson; her parents, Theo Sr. and Lucy Q. Oliver; and a brother, Theo Oliver, Jr.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Egan on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Father Jude Phierry officiating. A gathering of Gloria’s family and friends to bid their final farewell will be held on Monday, October 21 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Sensat Cemetery.
