Lillian Bates
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church for Mrs. Lillian Bates, 92, who died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Acadia General Hospital.
Services will be conducted by Fr. William Massive, IV.
Interment will be in South Crowley Cemetery.
She is survived by four sons, Murphy Bates Jr., Raymond Bates and Wilbert (Edna) Bates, all of Crowley, and Michael (Annalisa) Bates of Kaplan; one daughter, Rosita (David) Bennett of Crowley; 29 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 38 great-great-grandchildren; a loving daughter-in-law, Rita Bates of Crowley; two godchildren, Mrs. Eva Hollins of New Orleans and Ms. Carmen Norman of Crowley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Murphy Bates Sr.; parents, Charlie and Louise Bernard; two children, Charlene Brown and Anthony Bates; one brother, Charlie Bernard Jr.; four sisters, Mildred Ledet, Glady Jennings, Rosita Scott and Vivian Benoit; and three grandchildren, Joseph, Monica and Nicole Brown.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 8, at Syrie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Theresa Catholic Church from 8 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary will be recited Friday, Jan. 8, at Syrie Funeral Home at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 9 a.m.
