Mary Leen Istre Leger
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Crowley, for Mary Leen Istre Leger, 87, who died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 6:50 a.m. at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.
Mrs. Leger was a native and lifelong resident of Lyons Point. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Michael School in Crowley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lyons Point.
Mrs. Leger is survived by two sons, Lecaster Leger and wife Cathy of Crowley and Caroll Leger and wife Melissa of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three daughters, Glenda L. Thompson of Lyons Point, Donna L. Conner and husband Lonnie of Estherwood and Loretta L. Singleton of Lafayette; two sisters, Dorothy Andrus and husband Dale of Lake Charles and Velma Guichard and husband Joel of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Norris “Bee” Leger; her parents, Angelas and Ducrecia Broussard Istre; three brothers, Lecaster Istre, Ivy Istre and Angelas Istre Jr; and one great-grandchild, Halle Makay Thompson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Marcus Leger, Christopher Leger, Eric Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Jason Simon, Justin Simon and Leo Singleton IV. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or St. Michael’s Elementary School.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care of Mrs. Leger.
