Neelis C. “Butch” Hanks

Funeral services will be held for Neelis C. “Butch” Hanks, 74, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel-Crowley with Sister Patricia Malcomb officiating. Visitation began Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume at 8 a.m. until just prior to time of service on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service and will be in Old Crowley Cemetery.
Mr. Hanks passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Butch was a “Ham Operator”, K5GLD, in his early years and into adulthood; loved fishing and hunting; was employed by KSIG as a disc jockey as well as KATC Channel 3 where he was a video engineer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Larive Hanks of Crowley; sons, Shannon Hanks and wife Denise of Mire, Dwayne Hanks and wife Lorri of Crowley, Marcus Hanks and wife Tracy of Crowley; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by his parents, Calliste Hanks and Olive Duplantis Hanks; brothers, Wiltz Hanks, Newel Hanks and Nayman Hanks; and one sister, Joycelyn Hanks Broussard.
