Roy Joseph “Bud” Thibodeaux Jr.
Funeral services were held at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, May 16, at 3 p.m. for Roy Joseph Thibodeaux Jr., 82, who passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, in Rayne Guest Home surrounded by his family.
He was a long time resident of Baton Rouge.
Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Edmond Thibodeaux of Dallas, Texas, and Jon Andre Thibodeaux of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; six grandchildren, Brittany Aline Thibodeaux, Christopher Michael Dupin, Jonathan Joseph Dupin, Evan Tyler Thibodeaux, Annabelle Michelle Thibodeaux and Bradley Braun Thibodeaux; two sisters, Ruth Thibodeaux McBride and husband Warren, and Linda Thibodeaux McDaniel and husband Terry; two nieces, Katie McBride Lalande and Lisa McBride Mooney; and four nephews, Bryan McBride, Carl McBride, Jude Boudreaux and Todd Boudreaux.
He was preceded in death by one son, Pierre Antoine Thibodeaux; three daughters, Michelle Thibodeaux Mancheter, Collette Yvonne Thibodeaux and Monique Jeanne Thibodeaux; the mother of his children, Aline Privat Thibodeaux; and his parents, Roy Joseph Thibodeaux Sr. and Adeline Fisette Thibodeaux.
“Bud,” as he was known by all his family and friends, was born March 11, 1934, in Duson. He attended Duson Elementary until his high school years. He graduated from St. Stanislaus, a college preparatory boarding school in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years at the age of 22 and was stationed in Lakeland Air Force Base in Pleasanton, California. After completing his four years of service with the Air Force he entered and graduated from University of Southwest Louisiana as a civil engineer. He worked for Bernard and Burke, started his owned business, Livic Engineering, and then went to work for the State of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
After retiring he enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard, loving his cat “Henry Barousse”, and going to garage sales.
A rosary was recited Monday, May 16, at noon at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
Friends were received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., on Monday, May 16, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
