Vankesial Michael Augustus
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at Israelite Baptist Church for Vankesial Michael Augustus, 62, who died Dec. 4, 2015, at his home in Crowley.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Ivan J. Lewis. Interment will be in Johnson Hanks Cemetery in Morse.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Angela Broussard Augustus; five sons, Aaron (Jerrilin) Broussard of Fort Lee, Virginia, Geoffrey Broussard of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Michael Jr. and Shawn Augustus, Chad Yokum, all of Crowley; four daughters, Sheila and Monica Augustus, both of Crowley, Shelly (Willie) Turner and Nancy Augustus, both of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Harvey Richard Jr., Arthur Lee Augustus of Detroit, Michigan, Anthony and Therelon Augustus of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Alfred Richard Sr.; six sisters, Jackie (Craig) Grisby, Madeline (Willie) Bernard, Georgie (Albert) Mapps, Ruby Jean Mapps, all of Houston, Texas, Judy (Michael) Evans, Harvey Ann Benard, both of Crowley; mother-in-law, Carrie Harmon; two special people he treated as his own, Ashanti Broussard and Josef Shelvin; two brothers-in-law, Aaron and Larry Broussard; three sisters-in-law, Cassie Simmons, Debra Johnson, Cynthia Harmon; the Israelite Baptist Church family and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irma Wright and Harvey Richard Sr.; daughter, Sherry Ann Smith; brothers, Craig and Alex “Carl” Augustus; sister, Liza Alexander; father-in-law, Sidney Broussard and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at Israelite Baptist Church from 8 a.m. until time of service.
