Warren J. Guidry
It’s with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Warren J. Guidry, 86, of Mermentau, announces his passing, Dec. 19, 2015.
Warren was born in Jennings to Chevis Guidry and Agnes Courts Guidry on Dec. 31, 1928. Warren served our country honorably in the U.S. Army.
He loved the outdoors, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed playing his guitar, showing everyone the trophies he got from his fishing and cooking the fish he caught for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Warren is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lillia Ewing Guidry of Mermentau Cove; one son, Charles (Wendy) Guidry of Mermentau; three daughters, Shelia G. Seaux of Mermentau Cove, Barbara (Bobbie) Fruge-David of Mermentau and Cassie Crochet of Jennings; 10 grandchildren, Chris Bergeaux, Scotty Fruge, Dusty Fruge, Heather Benoit, Shannon Hebert, Cory Seaux, Landon Crochet, Logan Crochet, Georgie (GiGi) Guidry and Jill Hammons; and 13 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents, Chevis and Agnes Guidry; one brother and sister-in-law, Wilson and Elvera Guidry; one sister and brother-in-law, Florabell and Loveless Thibodeaux; his godchild, Wilson Guidry Jr.
Funeral services for Warren J. Guidry, 86, will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating. Visitation will begin on Monday, Dec. 21, from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family request that visitation resume on Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. until the time of his service.
Burial will follow in the Mermentau Cemetery with full military rites.
Carrying Warren to his final resting place in the Mermentau Cemetery as pallbearers will be C.J. Guidry, Sylvester Guidry, Chris Bergeaux, Shannon Hebert, Scotty Fruge and Cory Seaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Crochet and Landon Crochet.
