Wayne Jules Martin

Wayne Jules Martin, 59, of Riceville, was called from this life on Nov. 15, 2014, while surrounded by his loving family.

Wayne was born in Jennings to the late Jules Martin and Ouida Lege Martin on Aug. 25, 1955. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Wayne worked as a mower operator for Vermilion Parish for 32 years as well as being an assistant Scout Master of Gueydan Troop 89 for a number of years. He enjoyed being outdoors, doing such things as hunting, fishing and gardening. Wayne also enjoyed doing wood work of all kinds and making wine. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Ouida L. Martin of Gueydan; his beloved wife of 38 wonderful years, Aline Broussard Martin of Riceville; two sons, Jules Martin of Riceville and Michael (Courtney) Martin of Mattoon, Illinois; one brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Martin of Gueydan; one sister, Jo Ann Martin of Gueydan; five beautiful grandchildren, Kaden LeBlanc, Asia Martin, Christopher Martin, Nicholas Martin and Caroline Martin.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jules Martin; grandparents, Lucy and Maurice Martin, Emily and Gabriel Lege; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aldis and Marie Broussard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gueydan on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. with Father Corey Campeaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass.

Carrying Wayne to his final resting place in Gueydan Cemetery will be Jules Martin, Michael Martin, Kaden LeBlanc, Kenneth Martin, Maurice Martin Jr. and Blaine Martin.
