Willie Mae Abshire Benton

Crowley, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Willie Mae Abshire Benton, 84, who died Monday, March 17, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at Camelot Place in Crowley.
Bro. Bruce Runner will conduct the funeral services and the Committal services will follow at the Abshire Cemetery. Deacon Tim Ledet will lead the Rosary Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Visitation may be observed on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Willie Mae was born October 10, 1929 in Lyons Point, LA., to the late, Antoine and Emilie Monceaux Abshire. She was a lifelong resident of Crowley. She enjoyed baking, embroidering, sewing, gardening and reading. She loved to spend time listening to Cajun music and dancing. Willie Mae will always be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, kind, and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a very giving person who often went without to provide for her children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Benton is survived by three daughters, Dolores Bridges and her husband James of Kentwood, LA, Erlene Clouse and her husband Michael of Everett, WA, and Gretchen Dupuis and her husband Ralph of Rayne, LA; three sons, Gerald Broussard of Crowley, LA, Lonnie Broussard of Crowley, LA, and Terry Benton of Rayne, LA; 18 grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and a brother, Wilton Abshire of Crowley, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abbie Benton; her parents; her son, Calvin Broussard; a sister, Anol Simon and a brother Nelson Abshire.
