Ladies enter playoffs, Wolves conclude district
Finishing their district at 10-1 just behind Beau Chene last week, the No. 12-ranked Lady Wolves Softball Team entered the 2015 state playoffs Tuesday hosting No. 21-ranked Benton.
Coming into the game cold after loosing an entire week of diamnd action due to inclement weather, the Lady Wolves were cold both at the plate and on the field.
Benton took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back for a 7-3 bi-district win over Rayne.
Rayne’s Kelcie Bouegrois was tagged with the loss on the mound giving up six hits and striking out 11 batters on the day.
Leading a minimum of Lady Wolves’ hits on the day were McKenzie Meche, Madelyn Dupont and Bourgeois.
“Sometimes you just have games like this today,” stated Rayne Coach Natalie Travasos following Tuesday’s loss.
“Things didn’t happen today...didn’t hit, didn’t make the plays we needed to make, didn’t pitch well...just bad timing for today those things not to happen,” Travasos continued. Despite that, we did have a good year and I’m proud of our team.”
